Teen Pleads Guilty of Rape, Murder of 12-year-Old Girl He Lured with Tale of a Lost Dog

A Utah teen, who lured his 12-year-old neighbor from home by claiming he needed her help to find his lost cat, has pleaded guilty to the girl's 2015 rape and murder, according to multiple news sources. Jayden Sterzer, now 18 – who sexually assaulted and then strangled Kailey Vijil with his tank top – is likely to remain in juvenile detention for another three years until he turns 21, then faces a possible adult prison term of 15 years to life, reports the  The Salt Lake Tribune ,  the local TV station  Fox13 Salt Lake City  and  Good4Utah.com . Sterzer was 15 at the time the crimes were committed but his legal team claims he has the intellectual capacity of a toddler. On Monday he accepted blame by pleading guilty in juvenile court to rape of a child, followed by guilty pleas in adult court to first-degree murder and second-degree sexual abuse of a child. He will be formally sentenced Jan. 19 on the juvenile court plea, then return at a later date to f...

Laspotech's 15/16 Full-Time ND diplomats Cries Out as they are been offered Part time HND Program

The Lagos state polytechnic students, who had their National Diplomat (ND) last year and have applied to return for their Higher National Diplomat (HND) this year have expressed their pains and dissatisfaction based on the admission offered to them by the school. ( ) "We applied for the full time program and we are been offered the part time regular program, we can't cope with that, why then did we have Full time program in our ND, only to come back after the required one year Industrial Training that was required of us only to be offered a part time HND program, NO , we can't watch our colleagues go for service while we just seat there like a statue doing a part time program" - one of the affected diplomats said. "We have had a total different plan, but now that plan is been changed, the high school fee, renting of an apartment and so on, please we plead to the school authority to help us on this issue" another diplomat said. ( ) The affect...

#FEW TIPS ON GREETINGS FOR AN INTERVIEW

I just had to seriously put this together after i heard a Bsc holder disgraced himself, his certificate and virtually the school who gave that certificate to him during an interview today at Eko Hotel & Suites earlier on today by prostrating to each and everyone of the interviewer one after the other. Common its isnt a traditional wedding now, as a female friend of mine said, its an interview and your culture isnt needed or required there. So, i just had to pull this few tips together for us all so that such scenario wouldn't be repeated by any one of us again.... 1. Walk confidently toward the interviewer or into the interviewer's office . Hold your head erect while looking forward. Keep your back and shoulders straight. Avoid timid behaviors such as shuffling hesitantly or peeking into the interviewer's office. 2. Make eye contact with the interviewer to demonstrate your sincerity. Smile warmly and extend your right hand. 3. Grasp the interviewer's hand ...

#Diezani's Action shows Nigeria Government Is Doomed

I ain't a politics freak neither do i follow up on most of their news trash, but i could remember so well that Good Luck Jonathan during is government removed or tampered with the crude oil based on subsidy issues of a thing, and this so called heartless woman called Diezani could actually loot 90 billion US dollars , hahahahahahaha, i cant still get my mouth closed, if one, i mean only one of Jonathan's ex ministers could have stolen this much, then only God knows how much the rest would have stolen. Alhaji Dangote being the wealthiest African Man got 14.7 billion dollars, while Bill gates got 76 billion dollars and that is their net worth, meaning they don't have that cash in their accounts but as an assets, including cash in account, but a minister in this country could have stolen 90billion in cash, haha, its uncalled for.  A country with over 60% of children on the streets, dying of starvation daily, a nation with pensioners dying of hunger daily, a country where...

#Laspotech Students Ponders as 31st Approaches - All About Solidarity

The ASUP (Academic staff union of Polytechnics) Lagos State Polytechnic chapter had late last month called off their ongoing strike along with the NASUP of the institution, giving the management of the school a month grace to must have met with that which will quench their thirst, and the grace given will actually elapse on Monday 31st of July if their needs are not met.  The institution which is known for her fast calendar among other polytechnics in the previous years have actually had the slowest calendar year, the current semester and session which actual plan was to have wrapped off in the early weeks of this month is still yet to see the examination "time table" for the semester talk less of wrapping off.  Last week the ASUP members have been seen by students putting on different customized shirts like "31st is all about Solidarity" or "Efun wa lo wo wa, so so so"...... hmmmm, that is the management is yet to have met to their needs and if th...

Abeokuta's Flood - Prevent it before a cure will be needed

😓😒😞 This is a big disappointment, i could hardly believe it when this was sent to me this morning. First it was lekki in Lagos State and now it is Abeokuta in Ogun State. See refuse, haha.... Haaba, its too much, ii actually dont know if the flood brought the refuse from a far distance or if people had turned drainage's and canals into a refuse dump before the flood, or if it was during the flood people started dumping their refuse in it. Please we need to stop this uncalled for attitudes and learn to dispose our refuse properly. Ogun State Government also needs to provide a means for the people to dispose refuse and also make sure refuse are dumped properly by the residents of the state. A quick prevention should be done before this flood becomes what will make people homeless. Ise logun Ise.

IKORODU AT FULL ALERT FOR "BADOO"

The topic of the moment here at Ikorodu, Lagos State is the hash tag "BADOO". This isn't the popular musician we all know as Olamide (I think Olamide needs to change his nickname because if him come Ikorodu to perform and shout badoo lasan, the next action won't be funny ooo),but this time it's the notorious ,heartless, devilish, and blood sucking gang, who have made ikorodu town their hunting ground, caused more pains in the heart of the people of this great town, causing the town to go to their beds with eyes and ears opened. The people were actually waiting and hoping on the government to secure their lives, but it seems the more they hoped, the greater the pain and fear in the people. So now the town have decided to secure themselves and give judgement to any member of the Evil gang. Over the past week, the people have been able to get hold of some scape goats, and now not even the government can help calm the people, for they are determined to give pain an...

Day Of The African Child

Today we celebrate and honour every single African child, home and abroad, dead or alive, rich or poor, living in the woods, on the streets, in mansions, in refugee camps, in war Zones etc. With a broken heart, and a shivering mind, I send out my utmost wishes to every African Child who have to walk miles to school and back home daily, African child who have to hawk over 16hrs daily just to have a sip of water and a tiny loaf of bread to survive,  those who are casualties of meaningless Wars and violence, Victims of child trafficking, those who were made to watch their homes burn to Ashes, and their family destroyed. Remember we are the king of the Jungle, fear nothing and keep being strong, we were born strong, our roar will one day give us freedom. I have a dream that one day we won't have to walk miles to school daily, for education will be at our doors, a dream that one day we won't have to hawk to survive, for our parents will be employed legally, a dream that one no A...

EMIR SANUSI BARES HIS MIND ON HAUSA, IGBO AND YORUBA… THE PROBLEM OF NIGERIA….. A MUST READ ! The former Central Bank Governor, and Emir of Kano His Royal Highness Muhammadu Sanusi the second , surprised guests present at the Muson Centre for the launching of the book of Sir Olaniwun Ajayi. Below is his unedited speech. “Let me start by saying that I am Fulani (laughter). My grandfather was an Emir also fulani my uncle and guardian was also the immediate late Emir of Kano Alhaji Ado Bayero and therefore I represent all that has been talked about this afternoon. Sir Ajayi has written a book. And like all Nigerians of his generation, he has written in the language of his generation. “My grandfather was a Northerner, I am a Nigerian. The problem with this country is that in 2009, we speak in the language of 1953. Sir Olaniwun can be forgiven for the way he spoke, but I cannot forgive people of my generation speaking in that language. “Let us go into this issue because there are...

Six Ideas From Islam That You Can Use To Find Wealth

Religion is despicable. And then murders happen. I don’t believe any “science fiction” from 2000 years ago. Astrology is science fiction. A burning bush is science fiction. Prophecies from an invisible voice is science fiction. I don’t believe in any set of rules made thousands of years ago that dictate clothes to wear or punishments for random crimes. And you know what: most people don’t believe in those things either. But I also don’t like when media takes a billion people and just blindly calls them terrorists for the sake of selling as many commercials as possible. And every academic can quote passages from every religion about violence and horror. The Bhavagad Gita, for instance, is Krishna’s argument about why Arjuna needs to go into war with, and potentially kill, his own cousins. Should a modern person take this seriously? Of course not! Islam is similar. Do I listen to everything a mysterious voice said to a man in the desert over a thousand years ago? Of co...

The Mental Health Issue Affecting Millions of Americans

More than 8.3 million American adults suffer from serious psychological distress, according to new research from New York University Langone Medical Center. That means a higher percentage of U.S. adults are dealing with this mental health issue now than in the past. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention defines serious psychological distress as a combination of “feelings of sadness, worthlessness and restlessness” profound enough to affect your physical health. In addition to rising distress, the new findings (published online in the journal Psychiatric Services) show that the country’s “ability to meet the growing demand for mental health services is diminishing,” the study’s press release explains. Researchers analyzed data from more than 200,000 Americans between 18 and 64 years old using self-reported surveys, a process that spanned nine years. They found that 3.4 percent of participants met the criteria for serious psychological distress — previous estimates were le...

How Winning This Contest Changed My Life - Oprah Winfrey Recalls

With summer jobs on the horizon, professionals recall the first jobs that launched their careers. #CareerLaunch  In the summer of 1971, I was babysitting for Mrs. Hackleberry for 50 cents an hour. I entered the Miss Fire Prevention contest sponsored by my local radio station WVOL in Nashville. Everyone, especially me, was shocked when I won.  When I went back to the radio station to claim my prize, a Longines watch and a "digital" clock radio, the local DJ saw me looking around in awe.  "Have you ever heard your voice on tape?” he asked. “Think you could read this?”  He tore some wire copy, adjusted the mic, and rolled tape as I began to speak. I hadn’t finished three sentences before he called for another guy, then another, to "come listen to this kid read.” I left the station that day with the biggest prize of all — my first job in broadcasting. I was 17 years old.

Help Stop An Execution

Nearly two years ago, the eyes of the world were on Oklahoma, where a man named Richard Glossip was facing execution for a 1997 murder many people say he was not involved in. I learned about Richard’s case when actress Susan Sarandon contacted me, expressing deep concern that the State of Oklahoma was just about to kill an innocent man. After reviewing the facts, I too became convinced of Richard’s innocence, and we decided to  make a public plea for the governor to gra nt freedom On 30 September 2015, Richard came within minutes of execution by lethal injection, when officials suddenly stopped the proceedings. As it turned out, the state of Oklahoma had procured the wrong execution drug, risking another botched execution that would lead to a slow and painful death. At the last minute, Governor Mary Fallin, not exactly an opponent of the death penalty, issued a stay of Richard’s execution. Today, Richard’s situation is nowhere near being resolved. As the ...

#DR Congo: Bruno Tshibala appointed new prime minister

Democratic Republic of Congo President Joseph Kabila has appointed Bruno Tshibala as the new prime minister of the power-sharing government. Mr Tshibala will be leader until presidential elections later this year. He was expelled from Congo's largest opposition party, the UDPS, last month after contesting the designation of successors to veteran leader Etienne Tshisekedi who died in February. Mr Tshibala's appointment is likely to further divide Mr Kabila's opponents. Talks to negotiate his exit from power broke down last week. Mr Kabila was supposed to step down after his second and final five-year term came to an end last year but the vote to replace him was not held. The electoral commission cited financial and logistical difficulties. The arrogance of power The failure to organize the polls led to a wave of deadly demonstrations by opposition supporters, with calls from diplomats for the president to respect the constitution. The Roman Cathol...

Bodies of 2 UN experts found in Democratic Republic of Congo

The bodies of two UN experts who went missing in the Democratic Republic of Congo this month have been found, the United Nations said in a statement Tuesday. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said UN peacekeepers discovered the bodies of US citizen Michael Sharp and Swedish national Zaida Catalan on Monday outside the city of Kananga. The body of their Congolese interpreter, Betu Tshintela, was also discovered with them. A Congo government official told CNN that Catalan's body was found decapitated, but Sharp and Tshintela were not beheaded. Their cause of death is not determined, according to government spokesman Lambert Mende. "They were found together with the body of a Congolese interpreter who was working with them and who was identified clearly by our police," Mende said. The bodies are at a municipal hospital in Kasai province and Mende said their remains will likely be transferred to Kinshasa on Thursday. Sharp and Catalan were members of the UN G...

South Korean President Park Geun-hye arrested

Former South Korean President Park Geun-hye , who was removed from office earlier this month, was arrested on Friday. "Major crimes have been ascertained and there is a concern that the suspect might attempt to destroy evidence," Judge Kang Bu-young said in a text message to reporters. "The court recognizes the need, necessity and reasonableness of the suspect's arrest." Prosecutors announced Monday that they were seeking to arrest Park on charges relating to abuse of power, accepting bribes and leaking important information. "The suspect abused the mighty power and position as President to take bribes from companies and infringed upon the freedom of corporate management and leaked important confidential official information," the statement from the Seoul Central District Prosecutor's Office said. Park had been held in a temporary detention facility at the Seoul Central District Prosecutor's Office Building ahead of the court's ...

Digging the grave with ones teeth

Some years back, I was at the General hospital Gbagada in Lagos state, it was a woeful experience. Firstly I wasn't the one on the bed but I was more of the casualty of the bitter moment. I watched and listened carefully to the nurses discussions on patients and in my findings I noticed what humans eat daily, either solid or liquid, smoked or licked causes more death than the natural death and accidents combined together. I met at the hospital a man who happens to be in the same ward with the person of which I was stocked in the hospital. The man whose name I have forgotten was diagnosed with diabetes,  so must stay away from every sugary food,  but to my surprise after the doctors round in the morning, the man finds a way to sneak down stairs, take a soft drink (mirinda precisely) with either jollof rice or white rice and sneaks back to his hospital bed. What! I was shocked the very day I saw him downstairs digging his grave with his teeth. Sir, "you are not expected to...
