CALIFORNIA FIRE: 62,000 People Have Fled Blaze

#It Begins With You

It amuses me when women (working women, most importantly) who talk of empowerment and feminism, say “You have to talk to my husband/father about it.” Or “I don’t normally manage my finances.” when it comes to managing their money. Empowerment comes from being curious. It comes from educating yourself, and people around you. Take some time out and do what it takes to know where your money goes. Or what you can do with it. And once you are conversant with the process and the terms, take your mom, aunt, neighbor, friend or relative with you. Help them find out the various accounts they are eligible to open. Help them file their own tax returns. Educate them on how they can manage their finances themselves. Help them take the first step towards doing that. Enlighten them on the various privileges they are entitled to. It might all seem a little too far fetched in the beginning, but a little bit of practice is all it will take, to bring in the transformation. Travel that extra mile and do i...

#SUCCESS BEGINS IN THE MORNING

A successful day begins with a purposeful morning. A lot has been written about the power of your morning routine to set your day on a positive course, and science backs those assertions. A common thread among many books and articles on this topic is the importance of a solid morning routine. Success in the morning begins with the plan you made the night before. Whether you’re a morning person or a night owl, we all start our day at some point. Your success today depends on how you begin and end your day. Tapping into the power of mornings, a time of day when you are most active, might be the key to your long-term success. While most of us are still wrestling with our snooze buttons, many of the world’s highest achievers are getting a head-start with their work. A morning routine sets you up for the whole day, and if it is done right, everything else in your life will follow. “Morning and evening routines prime you for success. They help you achieve more, th...

#FEW TIPS ON GREETINGS FOR AN INTERVIEW

I just had to seriously put this together after i heard a Bsc holder disgraced himself, his certificate and virtually the school who gave that certificate to him during an interview today at Eko Hotel & Suites earlier on today by prostrating to each and everyone of the interviewer one after the other. Common its isnt a traditional wedding now, as a female friend of mine said, its an interview and your culture isnt needed or required there. So, i just had to pull this few tips together for us all so that such scenario wouldn't be repeated by any one of us again.... 1. Walk confidently toward the interviewer or into the interviewer's office . Hold your head erect while looking forward. Keep your back and shoulders straight. Avoid timid behaviors such as shuffling hesitantly or peeking into the interviewer's office. 2. Make eye contact with the interviewer to demonstrate your sincerity. Smile warmly and extend your right hand. 3. Grasp the interviewer's hand ...

This evening i have got a message for you, to inspire you and motivate you never to settle for the least, for you have got over seven billion people you can get to be a joy to.  Have you ever thought why our own parents weren't better, greater and more successful than their own parents? have you ever wondered why some youths are there wasting life and living like a dead soul ... LETS THINK OF DOING THE FOLLOWING A...

Day Of The African Child

Today we celebrate and honour every single African child, home and abroad, dead or alive, rich or poor, living in the woods, on the streets, in mansions, in refugee camps, in war Zones etc. With a broken heart, and a shivering mind, I send out my utmost wishes to every African Child who have to walk miles to school and back home daily, African child who have to hawk over 16hrs daily just to have a sip of water and a tiny loaf of bread to survive,  those who are casualties of meaningless Wars and violence, Victims of child trafficking, those who were made to watch their homes burn to Ashes, and their family destroyed. Remember we are the king of the Jungle, fear nothing and keep being strong, we were born strong, our roar will one day give us freedom. I have a dream that one day we won't have to walk miles to school daily, for education will be at our doors, a dream that one day we won't have to hawk to survive, for our parents will be employed legally, a dream that one no A...

#WHAT EDUCATION DOES NOT GUARANTEE

Ones a child is born, as early as age three, the child begins the adventure called Education, three years in the kindergarten/nursery school, immediately moves to the primary school where he/she spends six good years of his/her life with a lot of different subjects (as much as 16 different ones). then straight up the child moves to the secondary school (high school) where he/she spends another six years with so much subjects been enforced into the child's brain. Its of recent i just started asking myself , how did i pass through this stressful stages of my education life? when ever i see a 7 - 8 year old child going to school with a big filled bag that appears to be heavier than the child itself. 16 subjects for a seven year old child? waoooooo, please how do the teachers expect this young ones to know the sixteen subjects? well, adaptation i think it is. After spending the six years in secondary school, now he/she must face some examination bodies which wil...

'God, I don't mind if I die now': Desmond Tutu, in his own words

CNN's Robyn Curnow celebrates His Africa Hero Desmond Tutu. It was the late 1980s and townships were burning in South Africa. Apartheid's death throes were in full swing, violent and bloody, yet here was Archbishop Tutu, Nobel peace laureate and activist, in the chapel of Curnow's school. "He still took the time to come out and speak to a bunch of teenage girls in the suburbs," she marvels. The voice of a liberation movement, who unlike many of his peers was not in jail, nor in exile, Tutu was out to spread the word of an inclusive, equal society that at the time still lived beyond the horizon for South Africa.
